INDY
RACING LEAGUE
Revved
Up For Growth - Built For Opportunity
The INDY
RACING LEAGUE is an American, open-wheel, oval-track
racing series built upon the rich traditions and pageantry
of the most famous race in the world, the Indianapolis 500
Mile Race.
The INDY
RACING LEAGUE's two series, the IndyCar Series and the
Menards Infiniti Pro Series, provide competition where
driver skill, not just technology, determines who will
take the checkered flag, where fans are thrilled by
three-wide racing and finishes are decided by fractions of
a second.
The INDY
RACING LEAGUE is now in its eighth season. Its premier
series, the IndyCar Series, holds 16 events in 14 of
America's top markets. From Miami to Chicago to Los
Angeles to Detroit and everywhere in between, plus an
international event in Japan, fans are drawn to the
wheel-to-wheel excitement generated by 670-horsepower cars
and charismatic drivers racing at thrilling speeds. |
Attendance:
America's fascination with the INDY
RACING LEAGUE's wheel-to-wheel excitement and photo
finishes translated into another year of record
attendance. According to accredited published media
estimates, race day attendance grew 15% during 2001
delivering 1,196,740 fans over 15 races.
Television:
At a time when networks and sports
properties are struggling to retain viewers, INDY RACING
LEAGUE ratings are on the rise. Impressively, our ratings
for 2002 increased 17% on ABC and 31% on ESPN, while the
Indianapolis 500 Mile Race continues to produce consistent
viewership year after year.
Internet:
The modern sports fan leads a
tech-savvy lifestyle, and the fans of the INDY RACING
LEAGUE are no exception. Last year, indyracing.com
delivered over 40 million unique visitors, making it one
of the fastest growing websites in sports. |
