I talked with Dr. Jim Logan and he has announced his intention for form a new
Indy Racing team - he said it will be the first minority owned team within the
Indy Racing Northern Light Series.
Dr. Logan is from St. Louis and the team will start off based out of St.
Louis but plans are to locate in Indianapolis.
The plan for Team Logan is for Andy Michner to be his driver. He hopes to
have the team together to run at Las Vegas - if not Las Vegas then Indy.
He is still working on sponsorship, does not have a primary sponsor at this
time. They plan on using a Dallara with an Aurora, but he is open to Infiniti as
that program comes along.
Dr. Logan already runs Donnie Beechler in Silver Crowns. He first started his
involvement in racing in the 1970s with quarter midgets. Then went to wing
sprint cars and in 1993 to USAC Silver Crowns. Eric Gordon is one of his former
drivers.
Dr. Logan said he is a good friend of Junious Matthews, who you may recall
had hoped to start an IRL team this year but was not able to find the funding.
Matthews is now working with the Riley and Scott sports car team and is in
Florida at this time.
According to Dr. Logan, he and Junious have had an unwritten agreement that
the one who can start a team first will help out the other one. Logan said he is
looking forward to getting Matthews back in Indy Racing with his team.
